SeniorNet is a community training network that supports and motivates older people to enjoy and use technology in their everyday lives
SeniorNet Whakatane Inc is a community organization and is registered as a charity, operated by volunteers. We are a member of the Federation of New Zealand SeniorNet Societies Inc
Once a month February thru October we hold a Social Get Together with drinks & nibbles followed by a social gathering where members can meet, chat with other members and tutors.
We try whenever possible to arrange for a guest speaker at this event, wherever possible (but not always) covering various aspects of electronic devices and/or software, the presentation normally being followed by a questions and answers session.
At end of the year, normally in late November we hold our Christmas Lunch, where members can socialise and enjoy light entertainment and of course Christmas cheer.
Each member attending this function is provided with a free raffle ticket. The prizes are a range of gift baskets and other smaller gifts. Members are requested to provide a low cost present for gift baskets by leaving them at the Learning Centre during November.
We also endeavour to organise a mid winter lunch in July, which this year was held at the Kopeo Indian Restaurant, King Street, Kopeopeo on Friday July 7.
